Ever wanted to hold and lift a gold bar? This is possible at the new Money Museum of the Deutsche Bundesbank, which opened its doors in Frankfurt in December 2016 with a multimedia exhibition.
The extensively redesigned exhibition guides visitors through the themes of "CASH", "BOOK MONEY", "MONETARY POLICY", and "GLOBAL MONEY". Through concrete everyday situations, visitors experience the significance of money and stable monetary value in their lives.
At the heart of the exhibition is the 360-degree cinema, where the topic of "money" is presented in a fascinating way from various perspectives. Another special feature is the "Banknote Swarm" – banknotes from over 150 countries worldwide, which appear to swim like fish in large glass walls. Information about each individual banknote can be accessed at a media station.
The new museum appeals to visitors of all ages in various ways – with texts, images, videos, and audio contributions. At around 60 media stations, information about money is conveyed playfully or in-depth content is offered.
