The famous semi-circular Schocken department store building on Brückenstraße in Chemnitz is the State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz.

On May 16, 2014, the State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz was officially opened. With this museum, Saxony gains a permanent exhibition of its archaeological state treasures. Over 6,000 exhibits across three floors illuminate human history from the Paleolithic Age to the early Industrial Age.

State-of-the-art multimedia technology is used to convey knowledge and engage a broad audience.
