The Altenstein Cave is located below Altenstein Park in the city of Bad Liebenstein, Thuringia. With a total length of approximately 2000 meters, it is considered Thuringia's longest cave and was discovered in 1799 during the construction of the road to Altenstein Castle. By spring 1802, a 280-meter section had been developed as Thuringia's oldest show cave.
In 2023, the cave was modernized with new lighting and state-of-the-art sound and projection technology.
Despite challenging installation conditions involving dampness, cold, and no daylight, the inSynergie team successfully installed projections and sound systems in the "Great Music Hall," "Small Music Hall," and "Cave Lake" areas. The entire system can be controlled via a graphical user interface.
